Jolabokaflod is an Icelandic Holiday celebrated on Dec 24th in which friends and family give each other books and settle in for a day of reading. We at Binge This Book can’t think of a better winter holiday than that. This is our first Jolabokaflod and we hope to have many more.
It’s believed Jolabokaflod was established as an official holiday just after WW2. That seems to be the first time it showed up officially, but the holiday may go back much further as the country has a long history of celebrating literacy!
